My Story

Hi,

My name is Lexie, and I’m the founder of AdaMarie! I consider myself very lucky to do what I do: create jewelry that supports, celebrates, and empowers women and girls in STEM.

While I was in college, I started designing jewelry in between classes and labs as a way to blow off some steam – STEM topics can be really stressful after all! Around this time, I also realized that I was the only woman in most of my STEM classes, which was pretty disappointing (the gender gap wasn’t quite as stark at my high school). Nevertheless, I persisted! I went on to pursue a graduate degree, and after my graduation ceremony, a friend gave me a wonderful bracelet inscribed with Marie Curie’s famous quote – “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.” I had an epiphany: What if I could design jewelry that both celebrates and empowers women in STEM? At that moment, the concept for AdaMarie was born.

A few years passed before I was able to turn my STEM-inspired jewelry dream into a reality. Along the way, I have built a professional skill set that allows me to run my own business in addition to designing products for it, and I’m really proud of that. Now, I’m a mom who loves to take my own children to places that inspire their passion for inventing, creating, researching, and learning. We spend a lot of time outdoors, at local museums, in art galleries, and anywhere else where creativity and innovation are clearly on display. I hope you’ll sign up for our mailing list and follow our journey as I share some of my family’s adventures and experiences in the greater Philadelphia area!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about AdaMarie. I feel strongly that every girl and woman in STEM should feel encouraged and empowered, and I design each of my pieces as a small celebration to cheer them on every time they solve a problem, make a discovery, or change the world for the better. I hope you’ll find something that speaks to you or someone you care about, and please feel free to reach out and say hello!

All my best,

Lexie
